Fire and Dice: One Game That Brings the Heat!

We talked about Sky Parlor Studios last wonderful app, Carnival of Games.  It was awesome and we loved playing it's different games again and again.  They recently released their newest game on iOS and Android called Fire and Dice.  We played it. It's hot.  But just how hot is it?



We started up the game and tried to play it without reading the rules.  It was easier said than done.  It took a while to figure out how to get the game rolling, but once we did, we slowly started to get the hang of it.

You start out as a firefighter with one truck.  Then, there's a fire and it looks like someone is stuck in the building!  You need to choose which of the dice you want and try to get over there as fast as possible.  But that can prove to be no easy task if you don't have Lady Luck on your side.

You start out with four dice, and if you want all of them you simply tap one and it locks it in.  Then, you can roll until you have the four dice you like or are stuck with.  The dice are as follows:

• Ladder - It takes two to make a thing go right.
• Gas - So you can move it, move it.
• Water - The roof is on fire.  You need water so the .... doesn't burn!
• Firetruck - Insert Lil' Wayne lyrics here.

You need three firetrucks in a turn to get a  new truck, and that'll be extremely helpful for when the fires get crazy and uncontrollable.  Yes, it will happen to you all and it is a fiery frenzy!

If you collect 5 waters, you can put out a small fire.  You need 10 waters to put out a large fire.  If you don't do that fast enough it spreads nearby until the entire town is on fire.  This happened to me numerous times.

How do they do it? -drools-

To stop the spread and large fires faster you'll need more than extra firetrucks.  You need to collect two ladders and save a person from despair in the building.  Then, you need to have enough movement to get them safely to the firehouse.  This act of heroism grants you an extra die from the gods!  (I don't know if it's the gods, maybe he's just carrying it around?  Whichever it is, those extra pairs of dice are a necessity to doing well in this game.

It might sound simple, but this game takes that and makes it a very challenging strategy game.  Being a fireman must be extremely difficult, especially in this town.  The game keeps you coming back for more, and it's rewarding to see the score get higher.

The best part about the game is that this, unlike Carnival of Games, includes a leaderboard!  Now you can show everyone who's the best fireman! Our top is a measly 500,  can you do better?
